On Saturday 9th July, Tadworth Beavers joined the rest of the Banstead District at Park Farm for a Fun Day and Sleepover. Most of the Colony attended the fun day and 12 boys braved a night in the Barn for their first experience of a night away. During the day the Beavers built a silver totem pole to mark the 25th Anniversary of Beaver Scouting, this was an inter colony competition and the Colony judged to have built the best won the District Cup. TADWORTH WON!!!!!
There were many other activities to occupy the Beavers during the day, including climbing, archery, panning for silver, decorating party bags, Lego construction, rocket launching, and other craft bases. After lunch there was a round robin sports challenge, where the Beavers were put into teams and had to gain points by completing various sporting challenges as a team. There was also a quiz running throughout the day for each Colony to answer 25 questions, the Beavers from Tadworth, actually managed to answer all but 4 correctly!!!! It was then time for the Beavers that were not staying the night to go home.
The Beavers complete d a scavenger hunt for 25 different articles before embarking on a woodland walk in Banstead Woods before dinner. Then it was all hands on deck to fit 65 boys into the long barn at Park Farm for the sleepover. It was a bit of a squeeze but everyone enjoyed the experience, and after the camp fire and hot chocolate it was time for bed. Sunday morning was yet another challenge, as breakfast eaten it was time for a mass teeth cleaning session before packing up belongings and going home,
very tired but happy!
We would like to thank all the leaders and helpers that made this event possible, but especially our two brave Mums who volunteered to sleep over with the Colony.
